The network says “viewers will be introduced to the wealthy African-American families who have broken racial barriers and now reside in the sophisticated community.”
The show will follow socialite and single mom Gizelle Bryant, international model and TV personality Katie Rost, society grand dame Karen Huger, social butterfly Charrisse Jackson-Jordan, publicist and single mom Robyn Dixon, and restaurateur Ashley Darby.
Producer and host Andy Cohen said Potomac is an unusual choice for a Real Housewives location – it’s not the big city that other incarnations of the series have been set in, such as New York, Atlanta or Orange County, CA.
But, the strong women who live in Potomac have such a sense of themselves and the place that it felt right.
“They’re very affluent, they have strong ties to the community, they’re very into etiquette,” he said in a Bravo video.
The women are focused on their families, and the Potomac show feels like the early days of the Real Housewives franchise, he says.
“They just popped, they’re stars and they’re great,” Cohen said of the Potomac cast. “I’m loving that show, and you will, too.”
