Residents were urged to spend the weekend shoveling sidewalks and intersections where students cross. Temperatures climbing into the 50s this weekend, and 60s by Tuesday, will help melt the remaining snow.

Snow Removal Efforts
County leaders warned residents last week that they must clear their snow of sidewalks or face tickets. Failing to shovel walks will put students at risk when they return to school, officials said.
County Executive Ike Leggett said it is time for residents to clear snow from sidewalks in front of their homes, as required by County law. Understanding that this is a difficult task, it must be accomplished to provide safe routes for people with disabilities and those who use wheel chairs, people depending upon getting to Ride On bus stops and for children returning to school.
The county is now accepting unshoveled sidewalk complaints, which can be filed online at the mc311 website.
