This is the month to remember how Asians immigrated to America in the 19th century and the struggles they faced as they strived to assimilate into American society and make a living in this foreign land. At the event, different countries showcased their traditions and cultures, connecting the community together. CCACC took part as well with multiple clubs – Youth Dragon Dance Team, CCACC GuZheng Club, and Grace Postures and Dance Class – volunteering to help spread Chinese culture at Francis Scott Key Mall on May 11th.

Exciting performances included Chinese Opera from Virginia Chinese Opera, opening the public’s eye to the beauty of historical Chinese Opera that played a major role in Chinese history. Their costumes, makeup, and songs were extraordinary and captivated the audience. Vogai Children’s Choir also gave a breathtaking performance and as their voices brought the sounds of nature into the mall.

Rumbling drums created a tense atmosphere as the CCACC Youth Dragon Dance team made their appearance on stage, swinging and jumping, chasing the pearl. The audience couldn’t take their eyes off the majestic dragon as it weaved its long body through the air, showcasing the skill and harmony of the team members. Graceful Dance and Postures also displayed their talents though a traditional Chinese folk dance filled with beauty and elegance.
