2 Children Ejected From SUV In PG County: Police

The children are recovering from their injuries after the crash on Indian Head Highway.

FORT WASHINGTON, MD -- Two children were taken to the hospital after being thrown from a vehicle following a crash on Indian Head Highway in Fort Washington early Thursday morning.

The crash happened at around 1:45 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Indian Head Highway between Fort Washington Road and Old Fort Road, according to the Prince George's County Police Department.

"For reasons which remain under investigation an SUV traveling northbound on Route 210 just past Fort Washington Road lost control and struck a guardrail," police tweeted. "Two children were thrown from the vehicle. The children and driver were all taken to area hospitals."

All three were reportedly alive, and did not suffer injuries that were life-threatening. Northbound Route 210 was closed for hours due to the investigation.

Police tweeted shortly before 6 a.m. that the lanes had been reopened.
