Anti-Semitic Materials Left In Prince George's County Neighborhood, Police Blamed

Anti-Semitic and political propaganda was distributed in a Prince George's neighborhood. An online post blamed Bowie police.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Flyers containing hateful material were left in residential driveways over the weekend, according to Bowie police.

The materials were found along Crosswick Turn. Officers were notified and arrived in the area shortly after 10 a.m. on Saturday. They found cards with anti-Semitic and political propaganda placed in plastic bags that were weighed down with corn. Officers gathered up the flyers and spoke with residents about the incident, the police department reported.

A post was made on social media by a source not identified by the police that stated Bowie police officers were the ones distributing the material, something that has been disputed by the Bowie Police Department.

Once officers learned about the accusations being made online by the unidentified source, body camera footage was reviewed, which revealed that officers cleared out material only and commented about the importance of removing the material, the police department noted.

"We applaud their work in ensuring the hateful messages were disposed of properly," the Bowie Police Department stated on Facebook. "Unfortunately, reports of these weighted bags filled with hateful material being left on many doorsteps are coming in from all across our country, even within neighboring counties. We want to make it clear that there is no place for hatred or these despicable acts in the Bowie community."
