BMW Strikes Teen After Road Rage Incident In Laurel: Police

Police are investigating after a road rage incident left a teen hospitalized in Prince George's County.

LAUREL, MD -- A teen was hospitalized after the driver of a BMW struck him during a road rage incident in Laurel recently, police say.

Police say the juvenile driver of a red 1990 Honda Civic and the suspect, who was driving a gray 2004 BMW 5-series, both stopped their vehicles "for unknown reasons" between 3-4 p.m. Nov. 28 on MD 198 East in Laurel, according to a report from Maryland State Police. Neither the suspect nor the victim was identified by police.

"The juvenile victim told police he exited his red Honda Civic and walked to the rear of his vehicle," the report states. "While outside of the vehicle, the suspect, driving the gray BMW, reportedly accelerated and struck the victim. The victim was transported by ambulance to Prince George’s Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and later released."

Police believe the suspect fled the scene without rendering aid to the boy. Police also believe they know each other. They are treating the case as a first degree assault/road rage incident.
