UPDATE: Bowie Invites Residents to Be Cops for a Day

The event will benefit the Maryland Special Olympics.

The City of Bowie invites adults and children ages 9 and older to be cops for a day to raise money for the Special Olympics, according to a news release.

Participants will conduct a traffic stop, gather evidence at a crime scene, engage in a foot pursuit, handcuff a bad guy, practice target shooting, and ride along on a real vehicle pursuit during their day as a Bowie City police officer. At the end of the course, honorary officers will end their shift at the Donut Shop and enjoy some light refreshments.

There are still some 45-minute time slots available for the June 28 event, which will be held at Prince George’s Stadium from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
