Cowboy Hat Tips Off Police To Elusive Suspected Burglar's Location
A Hyattsville man wearing a cowboy hat while burglarizing a DE business was arrested in another store after he was spotted in the hat.
HYATTSVILLE, MD — The suspect wanted in a failed Dollar General break-in was easily spotted minutes later at a grocery store - all thanks to his cowboy hat.
Delaware State Police said the burglary happened around 4:45 a.m. at the Dollar General, located at 1815 Pulaski Highway in Bear, Delaware. Troopers received a tripped burglar alarm signal and learned that man had busted into the Dollar General through the front door, according to Delaware State Police.

Security cameras showed the suspected trying to open a tobacco display case, but couldn't get it open and fled the store.
While troopers canvassed the area looking for the suspected burglar, they were alerted about a man matching his description - including wearing a cowboy hat - at a Wawa on Pulaski Highway. They were able to arrested the suspect, identified as 32-year-old Anthony Ferguson of Hyattsville, without incident.

Ferguson was taken to Troop 2 where he was charged with third-degree burglary, possession of burglar tools, attempted theft under $1,500 and criminal mischief involving damage between $1,000 and $5,000. He was later arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on a $3,000 unsecured bond, according to Delaware State Police.
