Death of Woman Whose Car Crashed into Apartment Ruled Homicide
The driver died Oct. 3 of a gunshot wound in District Heights. A $25,000 reward is being offered for leads in the case.

The medical examiner has ruled the death of a Hillcrest Heights woman, who died behind the wheel of a car that crashed into a District Heights apartment building, was a homicide.
Prince George’s County Police say Marquita Wimms, 32, of 23rd Parkway was shot to death just before 11 p.m. on Oct. 3. The fatal shooting happened in the 1900 block of Rochelle Avenue, where her vehicle crashed into a building.
Officers arrived to find Wimms inside the vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Twenty-seven residents were displaced from the apartment building at 1950 Rochelle Ave., including 10 children, according to Prince George’s County Fire Department spokesman Mark Brady.
Detectives are working to establish a suspect and motive in this case.

A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered in this case.
