Go Green with Help of City Tree Rebate
The city of Bowie will offer rebates of up to $100 on the purchase of trees at Patuxent Nursery starting Sept. 1.

The City of Bowie’s tree rebate program will begin again on Monday, Sept. 1.
According to a news release, rebates of $50 and $100 are available on a first come, first served basis for Bowie residents who want to buy up to two trees at Patuxent Nursery, 2410 Crain Hwy. in Bowie. This program will be available until $10,000 in rebates are exhausted or until June 5, 2015.
There are 10 species of trees eligible for the rebate, although some tree species availability may be limited. An eligible tree species list and more details about the program are available on the City of Bowie website at www.cityofbowie.org/treerebate.
To be eligible for the rebate trees must be at least one-half a caliper inch and cost at least $100 in total cost (tree cost plus delivery cost minus other rebates and coupons). Eligible tree species that are 30 feet or less in maximum height are eligible for a $50 rebate; while eligible tree species that are more than 30 feet high are eligible for a $100 rebate.

Two tree rebates are allowed per household, the city says. If a household participated in the $100 spring 2014 tree rebate program, that household is eligible for one additional tree rebate.

· $10 delivery charge for non-machine delivered trees
· $50 delivery charge for machine delivered trees
· $150 planting service fee for trees smaller than 2” caliper, which includes delivery, mulch, soil amendments and staking
· $270 planting service fee for trees 2” caliper or larger, which includes delivery, mulch, soil amendments and staking
