Identity Of Victim In Fatal Hit-And-Run Remains A Mystery

Police are investigating three fatal hit-and-run cases that occurred recently in PG County. In one, the victim's identity is unknown.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Prince George's County Police and Maryland State Police are seeking the public's help in identifying suspects in three fatal hit-and-run cases that took place recently in Prince George's County. In one of the cases, the victim has yet to be identified.

On Friday, Feb. 21, around 8:50 p.m., PGPD officers were dispatched to Pennsylvania Avenue at Forestville Road for the report of a pedestrian collision. Arriving on the scene, they found the victim lying in the roadway suffering from critical injuries. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

A preliminary investigation revealed the victim was struck by a car as he was attempting to cross Pennsylvania Avenue. At the time of the collision, the victim was not in the crosswalk.

PGPD described the victim as a Hispanic male in his 20s, with short black hair and brown eyes. He is 5-feet-9 and weighs approximately 250 pounds. The victim was wearing two gray sweatshirts and a blue T-shirt with “Patagonia” on the front. In addition, he wore a black T-shirt with a face from “Deadpool” on the front, black pants, a black “Buffalo David Bitton” jacket and black high-top sneakers.

Police are also looking for the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run. Police describe the vehicle as a white 2015 or newer Toyota, which fled the scene after the collision. The car may have damage to the front-end driver's side, including the headlamp and windshield. It might also be missing the driver's side mirror. Police released a photo of a white Toyota from the same model year.

Maryland State Police are looking for the identity of the drivers involved in two recent fatal hit-and-run collisions that took place PG County.

In the first case, MSP troopers from the College Park Barracks received a call on Saturday, Feb. 29, around 5:30 a.m., from a motorist who said a body was lying in the gore area between the Inner Loop of Interstate 495 and the northbound ramp of Interstate 95. Arriving on the scene, troopers found the victim. Emergency personnel pronounced the victim dead on the scene, according to police.

Crime scene technicians and latent print examiners from the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division, along with the help of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, positively identified Henry L. Washington, 60, of Washington, D.C., as the decedent.

Investigating the scene, troopers determined the Washington was on foot when he was struck by an unknown vehicle.

MPD investigators believe the car that struck and killed Washington was a silver 2018 or 2019 Nissan Altima, according to a police report. Based on debris collected at the scene of the incident, troopers say the car likely has extensive damage that could involve the bumper, hood, headlight, fender and mirror along the passenger side of the car. MSP also say the man was struck sometime on Saturday, Feb. 29, between 3-5:30 a.m.

In the second case, troopers from the Forestville Barrack received a 911 call on Sunday, March 1, around 8:30 p.m., reporting that a pedestrian was struck by one or two vehicles in the southbound lanes of Route 4 at Old Marlboro Pike in Forestville. Responding to the scene, troopers discovered a victim lying in the grass off of the right shoulder of the road. Emergency personnel pronounced the victim dead on the scene. MSP identified the decedent as Earl L. Rogers Sr., 74, of Largo, Maryland.
