A Lewisdale man has been sentenced in the fatal stabbing of his wife whose body he also burned to try and hide the cause of her death.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Ernest Hayden, 66, has been sentenced in the fatal stabbing of his wife whose body he burned to try and cover up her death, prosecutors say.

Hayden of Lewisdale had been charged with killing his wife, Pauline Hayden, who was 60 at the time of her death, according to the Prince George's County Police Department. Officers were called to the 2000 block of Amherst Road Aug. 27, 2022, for a welfare check. Officers found Pauline Hayden suffering from trauma and unresponsive inside the couple’s home. She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The couple had been married more than 40 years.
