Maryland Woman Had Protective Order Against Husband Charged In Killing
Gladys Tordil told a court in March that her husband, Eulalio Tordil, now charged with killing her, had raped her and beat her for years.
Gladys Tordil, a Maryland high school teacher being mourned by her students and co-workers, was raped by her husband and beaten for years, according to a protective order she was granted in March.
On Thursday, the husband, Eulalio Tordil, focused his rage on his estranged wife one last time, police say, confronting her at High Point High School in Beltsville as she waited to pick up her two daughters.
The couple argued, a bystander tried to intervene and the husband pulled out a gun and fired, wounding the Good Samaritan and killing his wife, Prince George’s County Police say.

A civil court had granted her request to issue a protective order against Eulalio Tordil only two months ago.
“He threatened to harm me,” she told the court, “if I leave him.”

The protective order says that Eulalio – who had a black belt in the martial art of aikido -- slapped, shoved, and raped his wife.
He also forced the two girls into rigorous discipline that included numerous push-ups and putting them in "detention" in closets, the mother told the judge, according to court papers.

A judge granted her full custody of her daughters, Grace and Nikki Tordil, who are both seniors at High Point. Their father, a Federal Protective Service employee, was ordered to surrender his gun and badge as a result of the judgment and was placed on administrative duty.
A day after killing his wife, Eulialio Tordil, he opened fire at the Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda and Giant Foods in Silver Spring, killing two people, police say.
Authorities in both counties have filed first-degree murder charges against Tordil for the deaths of his wife and the victims at the Bethesda mall and Giant store. He faces assault and other charges in connection with the shooting of the Good Samaritan at the school and two injured victims at the mall.
Friends of Gladys have set up a GoFundMe fundraiser online to help her daughters go on to college as they planned.
The information about the family says, in part:
"The High Point High School community in Beltsville, Maryland, is gathering together to help fund the education for Grace and Nikki Tordil. Grace and Nikki’s mother, a Chemistry teacher at Parkdale High School, was shot and killed in the school parking lot on May 5, 2016. Mrs. Tordil was her daughters’ primary financial support system.
Grace and Nikki, both seniors at High Point High School, are outstanding students and are set to attend the University of Maryland Baltimore County and the University of Maryland College Park in fall. They need our help to attain their educational goals.
You can help by donating to the site today. Your donations will go towards the scholarship fund for Grace and Nikki."
