Massive Fire Erupts In Greenbelt (Video)
Firefighters have knocked down a huge fire at Glenn Dale Crossing Wednesday afternoon.

GREENBELT, MD -- A three-alarm fire raged at Glenn Dale Crossing in Greenbelt, and firefighters spent hours on the scene battling the blaze. See video from the scene below.
The fire caused an estimated $8.9 million loss, according to Mark Brady, spokesman for the Prince George's County Fire Department. Two buildings under construction were destroyed, and those who lived in 26 residences were displaced, he said.
Witnesses at the scene heard multiple "pops" before the fire, according to a source.

Crews were dispatched to the 10100 block of Dorsey Lane around 12:30 p.m. The fire appeared to have started in a four-story condo being developed.
During the firefighting operation, Brady said in a video update that the fire burned one row of townhomes under construction and then spread to a second, and it threatened a third row of occupied townhomes that had to be evacuated.

By 2 p.m., the bulk of the blaze had been knocked, or contained. There were no reports of injuries, according to Brady.
As crews were wetting the area around the scene, a brush fire was ignited by flying embers, about 300 yards from the main fire ground, Brady reported before 4:30 p.m.
The Red Cross was assisting the residents, and the cause of the fire remained under investigation Wednesday evening.
