Microchip Scanning Stations Installed In College Park

Officials have installed two microchip scanning stations in town to help expedite the identification and reunification of pets with owners.

COLLEGE PARK, MD — Two pet microchip scanning stations have been installed in College Park to expedite the identification of lost pets and reuniting them with their owners.

The self-service stations will notify owners of microchipped pets that their lost pet has been found. The stations are equipped with instructions for how to scan a pet and search the microchip if there is registration information linked to it.

The two microchip scanning stations are located at Davis Hall Public Works facility on 51st Avenue and behind City Hall along Yale Avenue.

The city's animal control department strongly recommends microchipping pets. The cost for chip implementation and online registration is a one-time fee of $50. The service is offered at clinics hosted by the city. Officials noted that these will be announced on the city's Facebook page.
