Military Plane Crashes, Pilot Parachutes Out: Patch PM
Maryland becomes third state to ban fracking | Payless closing select stores | Immigration order codifies policing.

Here are some stories to share this evening from Patch sites across Maryland:
Military Plane Crashes In Prince George's County
An F-16 aircraft has crashed near Clinton; residents who find debris should not touch it, say emergency authorities. The crash happened in a wooded area 200 yards from any homes, according to a spokesman for the Prince George's County Fire Department. One pilot is reported to have parachuted out of the plane before the crash.
Maryland Fracking Ban Makes History
Gov. Larry Hogan has signed HB 1325, which bans hydraulic fracturing, or “fracking,” in Maryland. The law will go into effect on Oct. 1, when a temporary ban on fracking expires. The Republican governor had previously called the possibility of fracking in two western counties, Garret and Allegany, an economic gold mine but later said "the possible environmental risks of fracking simply outweigh any potential benefits."

Immigration Order From Baltimore County Executive
Police officers may not inquire about a person's immigration status without a criminal warrant signed by a judge. The county cannot detain anyone beyond a court-ordered release date unless there is reason to believe there is a detainer signed by a judicial official. "Children are afraid to go to school, women are afraid to report domestic abuse and families are afraid to seek medical care in a hospital out of the fear of deportation," Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz. "We won’t let that happen in Baltimore County. Today’s executive order will make that crystal clear.”
