Black Mom of 7 Sadly Dies After Being Shot in the Head While Holding Her Baby (blacknews.com) — A Bowie mother of seven has died after being shot in the head inside her Myrtle Avenue home during an argument, leaving her children and oldest daughter scrambling to cope and plan a funeral. Bowie police say the children witnessed parts of the incident, and the family has launched a GoFundMe to help cover funeral and caregiving expenses as they adjust to life without her.
   

2. Prince George's County parent raises concerns as bus problems persist (foxbaltimore.com) — Prince George's County parents are still battling serious school bus and special education service problems, including one family whose child was transferred to Pointer Ridge Elementary in Bowie without reliable transportation from Accokeek. As PGCPS works through a massive routing backlog and leadership changes, state investigators have already found multiple violations in this student's services, while the district says it needs more information to address her case.
   

3. Darius Wilson Added to Men's Basketball Staff (bsubulldogs.com) — Bowie residents connected to Bowie State basketball will see a familiar face back on the sidelines, as Darius Wilson returns as an assistant coach for the 2026–27 season. With deep ties to the Bulldogs and a strong player-development background, he's expected to mentor student-athletes and help elevate Bowie State's men's basketball program on and off the court.
   

4. Maryland Union Leader Convicted of Defrauding Union To Enrich Herself (justice.gov) — A Bowie woman who once led a federal employees' union has been convicted in Greenbelt of conspiring to commit wire fraud and laundering nearly $1 million in union funds. Prosecutors say she funneled settlement money into a sham consulting firm she controlled, spending it on personal items and leaving the union bankrupt and in receivership by 2022.
