PG County Police Chief Slams Rumors About Slain Officer
Visibly angry at times, the chief called it a "very harmful narrative."

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD -- During a press conference, Prince George's County Police Chief Hank Stawinski slammed a "very harmful narrative" about an officer who was killed in Brandywine Wednesday.
Police say Cpl. Mujahid Ramzziddin, a 14-year veteran of the police force and U.S. Marine, was killed by a man with a shotgun after getting between him and the man's estranged wife, who was his neighbor. Stawinski said that some -- although he did not specify who -- had been spreading a rumor that the confrontation was the product of an inappropriate relationship between Ramzziddin and the neighbor, who has not been identified.
The alleged assailant, 37-year-old Glenn Tydell, was gunned down by police who confronted him after he fled the scene, police say. Ramzziddin's neighbor is the estranged wife of Tydell, who also has an ex-wife and is in a relationship with another individual, according to Stawinski.

"A very harmful narrative has been advanced, that this is somehow the product of a relationship between our officer and this neighbor," Stawinski said. "I have absolutely no evidence to corroborate that."
Stawinski suggested that Ramzziddin had some sort of "engagement with the criminal law system" which he "cannot account for."

"But I have evidence vis a vis information from today's victim from a cell phone and other evidence that corroborates the account of both the intended victim from today, his current estranged wife, and from the widow that roundly disputes these allegations," he said. "When I have facts, you will have facts, and there is nothing that corroborates this. Our officer lost his life saving the life of the intended victim.
"I have no reasons to doubt the intentions of the officer we have lost," he added.
