Pit Bull Ban Challenged In Court By Prince George's Dog Owners
A Prince George's family has filed a lawsuit challenging Prince George's County's 25-year pit bull ban after their 2 dogs were seized.
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — The county's controversial 25-year ban on owning pit bull dogs has been challenged in federal court. A lawsuit claims a family's U.S. Constitutional guarantee of due process was violated after two emotional support dogs were taken from them, reports WUSA.
According to court documents, Prince George's County officers seized dogs Bella and Mimi July 7. The dogs had gotten loose and attacked another dog on a neighbor's property causing “severe injury” to the other dog.
Richard B. Rosenthal, the New York-based attorney representing Denise, Sophia and Stephany Venero who own the dogs, told WUSA both sides agreed they might be able to settle the case in a couple of months.
