Prince George's County School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Holidays

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Record scratch, school can't be right around the corner, can it? It's still a ways away, but these things have a knack for sneaking up on you during the dog days of summer. The first day of school in Prince George's County is September 6.

The Prince George's County Public School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools. The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

September

• 9/6: First Day of School for Students

October

• 10/20: Professional Development - Schools closed for students and teachers
• 10/30: Professional Development - Two hour early dismissal for students

November

• 11/3: Professional Development - Two hour early dismissal for students
• 11/9: End of First Quarter (46 days)
• 11/10: No School (Holiday)
• 11/13: Professional Day for Teachers - Two hour early dismissal for students
• 11/22: No School (Holiday)
• 11/23 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving)

December

• 12/8: Professional Day for Teachers - Two hour early dismissal for students
• 12/25 - 12/29: No School (Winter Break)

January

• 1/1: No School (New Year's Day)
• 1/15: No School (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day)
• 1/25: End of Second Quarter (44 days)
• 1/26: Professional Day for Teachers - Two hour early dismissal for students

February

• 2/9: Professional Development - Schools closed for students
• 2/19: No School (Presidents' Day)

March

• 3/2: Early Release for Students
• 3/28: End of Third Quarter (42 days)
• 3/29: Professional Day for Teachers - Two hour early dismissal for students
• 3/30: No School (Holiday)

April

• 4/2: No School (Holiday)
• 4/3-6: No School (Spring Break)

May

• 5/28: No School (Holiday)

June

• 6/12: 2 Hour Dismissal for Students
• 6/13: Last Day of School, 2 hour early dismissal
