Takoma Park Man Charged In Connection To Hyattsville Man's Fatal Shooting: PGPD

A Takoma Park man has been charged in connection to a Hyattsville man's fatal shooting, according to Prince George's Police.

HYATTSVILLE, MD — Prince George’s detectives have charged a suspect in connection to a recent fatal shooting.

On March 23 at around 6:45 p.m., officers were called to the 1800 block of Metzerott Road for a report of a shooting. Officers found 43-year-old Charles Dent of Hyattsville outside with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

A preliminary investigation indicates the suspect, 36-year-old Jamar Welch Sr. of Takoma Park, shot Dent during an argument. The two men knew each other, police reported.

Welch has been charged with first- and second-degree murder and related charges.
