Prince George's Teachers Praised For Work With Talented, Gifted
Three Prince George's County Public Schools employees won awards for their work with Talented and Gifted students.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Three Prince George's County Public Schools employees won an award for their work with talented and gifted students. The recognitions, called MEGGY awards, come from the Maryland Educators of Gifted Students.
Two of the awardees are teachers, and one is an administrator. The three winners are:
- Marites Melad
- Benjamin Tasker Middle School
- Debra Perhach
- Talented and Gifted Coordinator
- Wendy Walton
- Capitol Heights Elementary
Melad and Walton earned earned acknowledgement as Outstanding Educators in the Field of Gifted and Talented Education. Perhach was commended for her work in Providing Learning Environments that include Opportunities for Students to Demonstrate Academic and/or Creative Talent.

The Prince George's County representatives make up three of the seven winners across the state. All the prizewinners will be recognized at the Maryland State Conference on Gifted and Talented Education on Oct. 16.
