A 20-year-old Virginia man faces charges after police say he was found with a stolen handgun in his vehicle following an illegal car rally.

LAUREL, MD — A 20-year-old Virginia man faces charges after police arrested him following the break-up of an illegal car rally last weekend.

On March 13 around 11:30 p.m., Prince George's police officers were called to the 14400 block of Cherry Lane for a report of an illegal car rally. Police officers counted at least 100 vehicles involved and broke it up.

Officers stopped one vehicle, driven by Diego Emmanuel Guerra, 20, of Woodbridge, Virginia. During the traffic stop, officers found a loaded firearm in his car, according to police, which had been reported stolen out of Texas.

Guerra has been charged with multiple handgun charges that include being in possession of a loaded handgun and being in possession of a stolen firearm. He was taken to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections.

"This arrest again reinforces this agency’s unwavering message that illegal car rallies are dangerous. In this case, we recovered a gun that had been reported stolen. Do not come into our jurisdiction and take part in these illegal rallies. We intend to continue to make arrests,” said Prince George’s County Police Chief Nader.
