National Farmers Market Week: Support Catonsville Market Vendors
National Farmers Market Week 2021 celebrates the resiliency of farmers markets during the COVID-19 pandemic.
CATONSVILLE, MD — The first week of August marks National Farmers Market Week, and there's no better time to visit the farmers markets in Catonsville and support local producers. The annual National Farmers Market Week celebration is coordinated by the Farmers Market Coalition, a nonprofit providing training, technical assistance and network-building to farmers markets nationwide.
Fresh Maryland-grown fruit and veggies, homemade baked goods, cut flowers and more can be unearthed at one of two farmers markets found in Catonsville. The Catonsville Sunday Farmers Market is open Sundays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sponsored by the Greater Catonsville Chamber of Commerce, the Sunday market is held at 15 Mellor Ave. every Sunday, rain or shine. Farmers market fans will find cut flowers, produce, craft beer, baked goods, crab cakes and crab products, Belgian leige sugar waffles, salsa, goat milk products, kettle corn, empanadas, eggs, natural meats, herbs, organic produce, wines and more.
The producer-only Catonsville Farmers' Market is held Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to noon at the Christian Temple located at 5820 Edmondson Ave. Shoppers will find locally grown eggs, chicken, beef, pork, lamb, turkey, seasonal fruit, a large variety of vegetables, raw honey, goats milk soaps and healing creams, preserved jams and jelly, wine, flowers, spice blends, granola, pastries and old-world style breads.
