📰 News we're reading

• 'Pure chaos': Baltimore County moves to crack down on commercial house parties (foxbaltimore.com) — Catonsville residents' complaints about large, for‑profit pool parties in their neighborhood have prompted Baltimore County leaders to propose a new law banning commercial house parties in residential areas. The measure, headed to the County Council, would let police cite organizers with fines up to $5,000, while still allowing normal private gatherings and permitted nonprofit or political events.

• MDOT deploys $11.3 million to expand bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure across Maryland (nottinghammd.com) — Catonsville is set to benefit from new state bikeway funding, with a design project aimed at improving local connections to schools, parks, and commercial areas. It's part of an $11.3 million MDOT package backing 24 bike, pedestrian, and trail projects statewide, including trail repairs, Safe Routes to School upgrades, and new shared‑use paths.
