5 Businesses Open at The Metropolitan in Columbia

Two new restaurants have opened in The Metropolitan, with a third set to open in 2016.

In addition, three beauty shops are now in business at the complex off Town Center Drive, according to a news release on behalf of The Metropolitan.

As far as eateries, the Corner Bakery opened in November; MOD Pizza welcomed customers in October; and CaliBurger will begin serving up its burgers and fries in 2016.

For those looking for a haircut, wax or mani-pedi, check out Floyd’s 99 Barbershop, European Wax Center or U.S. Village Nails & Spa, respectively.

The Metropolitan, which opened in the last year, includes more than 300 residences in addition to businesses and a public promenade area with sculptures.

The project marks the first large-scale construction effort in the Downtown Columbia Plan, which calls for high-density residential and commercial development. It broke ground in February 2013, according to Kettler, the developer that partnered with Howard Hughes Corporation and Orchard Development Corporation in the endeavor.

“The Metropolitan Downtown Columbia has come to life with these high-quality establishments opening their doors,” Kettler Chairman/CEO Robert C. Kettler said in a statement. “Residents will now be able to enjoy great food and services from these nationally recognized businesses. Locating here is affirmation that The Metropolitan has a great future.”

The Metropolitan is located at 10000 Town Center Avenue in Columbia.
