6 Businesses To Open At Columbia Mall By End Of 2018

In the next year, Columbia will get a Barnes & Noble, laser tag entertainment center and other businesses.

COLUMBIA, MD — A variety of businesses have reportedly signed leases at The Mall in Columbia, setting their sights on opening before the end of 2018.

Barnes & Noble, Main Event Entertainment, Shake Shack, Uncle Julio's, Walrus Oyster & Ale House and Z Gallerie will join the mall on Little Patuxent Parkway in the coming year, according to the Baltimore Business Journal.

Z Gallerie is said to be opening this summer, with Shake Shack and the Walrus Oyster & Ale House opening in the fall, the journal reports.

Home goods store Z Gallerie sells upscale furnishings. According to the company's website, it will open at The Mall in Columbia in July. Currently, the closest location is at the Annapolis Mall.

Shake Shack, known for its burgers and creamy shakes, has presence at the Inner Harbor and National Harbor.

Walrus Oyster & Ale House operates its one and only location at the National Harbor.

Between now and 2018, Barnes & Noble will reportedly join the mall along with Uncle Julio's in what used to be part of Sears.

Sears will consolidate its operations onto one floor with a focus on clothing, the Columbia Flier reports, while space on the vacated second Sears level will house the bookstore, Mexican restaurant and Main Event Entertainment, a venue featuring laser tag, bowling and gravity ropes as well as food and drink.

According to operator GGP, there are 215 stores at The Mall in Columbia.

The new businesses are the latest in a series of updates to the shopping center. The Mall in Columbia has undergone redevelopment since 2013, with the outdoor plaza coming online, and several stores completing updates as the shopping center continues to evolve.
