Help Needed As Supplies 'Critically Low' At Pet Food Bank (patch.com) β Pet owners in Columbia are being asked to help restock the Howard County Animal Control and Adoption Center's Pet Food Bank, which is critically low on cat food, litter and dog food. Donations can be dropped off on Davis Road or ordered online, and adoption fees are waived through Aug. 31 as the center joins a statewide push to place 3,000 pets in new homes.

Zion Abdul Alhassan, 27, Arrested for Multiple Offenses including Robbery β Congress Heights on the Rise (congressheightsontherise.com) β A 27-year-old Columbia resident has been charged in connection with several robbery and burglary incidents that occurred earlier this month in Northeast Washington, D.C. Police say the suspect was arrested after one victim's property and credit card were taken and later used. Columbia readers may notice the hometown connection in this multi-offense case.

Audition for THE SOUND OF MUSIC (Tour) Equity Principal Actors at Drop Of Golden Sun LLC in New York NY on 09/02 (broadwayworld.com) β A Columbiaβbased company, Drop Of Golden Sun LLC, is producing a touring version of The Sound of Music and holding Equity principal auditions in New York City on September 2, 2026. The notice outlines pay, roles, and audition requirements for performers. It's a reminder that a nationally touring production is being developed from right here in Columbia.
