Daughter of Slain Ellicott City Blogger Reportedly Dreamed of His Death

Dennis Lane's daughter felt differently about the death than her boyfriend, who was recently sentenced to 30 years for the murder.

Morgan Lane Arnold, who turned 16 earlier this month, appeared in Howard County Circuit Court Wednesday in the second day of a hearing to determine whether she will be tried as a juvenile or adult in the first-degree murder case involving her father, Dennis Lane.

Arnold and her boyfriend, Jason Anthony Bulmer, 20, were indicted last year in connection with the 2013 stabbing death of Lane, a well-known blogger and commercial real estate broker in Howard County.

Police said Bulmer and Arnold plotted for more than two months to kill Lane and his fiancée before the murder, which occurred at 4:20 a.m. on May 10, 2013, at Lane’s home in Ellicott City.

In court Wednesday discussing Arnold’s mental health, a psychiatrist testified that after Lane’s death, his daughter said: “I’m glad he’s dead,” according to The Baltimore Sun, which reported she also told the doctor: “My fantasy came true.”

Her boyfriend said he felt differently.

Bulmer, who admitted to stabbing Lane to death with a kitchen knife at the bidding of his girlfriend, has been haunted by nightmares since the murder, WBAL reported.

According to WBAL, Bulmer said that he was regretful, stating: “I wish in my heart I didn’t do it because it hurt a lot of people,” before hearing his sentence.

He was convicted as an adult on a first-degree murder charge, with 30 years in jail and five years of probation, online court records show. The judge said the murder was ”perverse, sadistic and dark,” according to The Washington Post.

It remains to be determined whether Arnold, who was 14 at the time of the murder, will be tried as a juvenile or adult. The Baltimore Sun reports the hearing regarding her mental state will continue on Wednesday, Aug. 6.
