Feedback Need By May 24 On HCPSS Inclement Weather Asynchronous Instruction Plan

HCPSS leaders are asking for families to provide feedback about its proposed inclement weather asynchronous instruction plan.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Feedback from families is being sought by Howard County Public School System leaders regarding the district's inclement weather asynchronous instruction plan. Comments will be accepted through May 24.

If approved by the Howard County Board of Education, HCPSS will switch up to three inclement weather days over to asynchronous instruction days. According to the proposed plan, unlike the virtual instruction used during the coronavirus pandemic, students will not have live online instruction and instead will complete assignments on their own, school officials said.

Asynchronous instruction day materials for elementary school students would be posted on the HCPSS website and updated each month. Schools would provide printed copies for students as needed. Middle and high school students have been provided an HCPSS-issued device and would access their assignments via Canvas. All students would have up to 10 days to complete work.
