School Closing Update for Friday from HCPSS
The Howard County Public School System announces weather decisions regarding classes, offices and activities for Friday, Jan. 29.

Schools will be closed in Howard County on Friday, Jan. 29, the Howard County Public School System announced.
Offices at schools will be open, according to the announcement.
Activities sponsored by community organizations and schools at school buildings and facilities are canceled, the announcement said.

This is the sixth snow day for Howard County students related to the blizzard that hit over the weekend; school was also canceled on Thursday, Jan. 28; Wednesday, Jan. 27; Tuesday, Jan. 26; Monday, Jan. 25; and Friday, Jan. 22.
Superintendent Renee Foose provided information about how schools make weather decisions in a blog post on the Howard County Public School System’s website, explaining factors such as sidewalk conditions, heat functionality, route accessibility and other considerations come into play. Read it here.
