Jessup Man Dies After Columbia Shooting: Police

Police said a man died after he was shot Saturday in Columbia, and officials have released a description of the suspect.

COLUMBIA, MD — The man shot near Little Patuxent Parkway in Columbia Saturday has died, Howard County police reported Sunday morning. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries Saturday afternoon, officials said, and he passed away overnight.

Taiwon Dashon Dorsey, 21, of Jessup, was identified as the victim.

Police said Dorsey was shot while outside in the 12000 block of Green Meadow Drive. Authorities were called to the area for a report of person shot before 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 20.

Dorsey was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with serious injuries, and officers canvassed the area Saturday night in search of a suspect.

Witnesses described the gunman as a thin black man about 6 feet tall with a goatee and dreadlocks atop his head. At the time of the shooting, officials said he was wearing a white tank top with black shorts.

A tip about suspicious activity in a nearby apartment building led officers to search the building but it did not lead to the suspect, police reported Sunday morning.
