Man Shot, Pedestrian Cut, Home Burgled: Columbia Crime
Three crimes in Columbia since Sunday sent two people to the hospital, left one resident without a car, according to police.

COLUMBIA, MD — The Howard County Police Department provided the following information about recent incidents in Columbia.
Police shot and injured a 42-year-old Columbia man who was allegedly suicidal and homicidal on Tamar Drive at Hayshed Lane at 8:16 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 26. The man reportedly pointed a replica pellet gun at himself, then police, who fired one shot and hit him in the torso. The man was taken by medevac to shock trauma, where he was listed in serious but stable condition. The officer was placed on routine administrative leave, which is standard procedure. A pedestrian was stabbed on Green Mountain Circle before 9 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25. Three people approached the victim, who got into a physical altercation with them when one of the group cut him on the forearm with an unknown object. The victim walked to the hospital, and the investigation is ongoing. One suspect was described as a black man who was 6'1" tall and 200 pounds, wearing a dark hoodie. The other two suspects were only described as wearing hoodies as well.

What began with the ring of a doorbell ended with the theft of a vehicle. Sometime between 4 and 5:11 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25, a resident heard the doorbell ring but found nobody there in the 9400 block of Guilford Road. A neighbor reported seeing two suspects go into and quickly leave the residence. Car keys were taken from the entryway and a 2015 Ford Explorer was stolen from the street. The suspects were described as females in their late teens or early 20s.
