Mt. Hebron Football Players Ordered To Quarantine After Exposure
The Howard County Public School System JV players are out through March 21, dealing a blow to their rescheduled season that began Feb. 13.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Mt. Hebron High School junior varsity football players have been ordered to quarantine until March 21 due to a positive COVID-19 exposure linked to a March 6 scrimmage against Glenelg High School's junior varsity football team. Players are allowed to return to school and activities March 21.
The setback to the students' rescheduled fall sports season comes less than a month after it began.
Brian Bassett, spokesperson for the Howard County Public School System, said any changes to game schedules will be reflected on CountySportsZone as soon as possible.

"We know from experiences in other districts that as positive cases come up on athletic teams or teammates are exposed, close contacts may be asked to quarantine per health department guidelines. Identified close contacts and students/families who are impacted by changes to the athletic calendar are contacted directly. If a larger public health notice is needed, HCPSS will work with the health department," Bassett told Patch. "In addition, the HCPSS dashboard will be updated daily to ensure the community has information about positive cases in schools as they occur."
Bassett reminded families and staff to "ensure they are following guidelines regarding self-checks, self-quarantine as directed by guidelines or health staff and follow all precautions regarding mask-wearing and social distancing."
