CCA Calls for Lake Louise Rain Garden Ad Hoc Committee

The Crofton Civic Association Board is looking for community members to serve on a Lake Louise rain garden ad hoc committee.

The Crofton Civic Association Board of Directors is pouring support into a possible rain garden at Lake Louise.

Monday night the CCA Board agreed to start looking for members to serve on an ad hoc committee to move the rain garden effort forward.

CCA Operations and Management Committee Chair David Shickel said a rain garden would help maintain water levels at Lake Louise.  The District Three representative said a rain garden might also help beautify the local landmark.

“It’s not a project where people will be able to just head down to the lake with a shovel,” said Shickel.  “There’s likely to be a landscape architect involved,” Shickel added.

“My concern here is, if the initial goal was to get storm water off of Crawford Boulevard.  That’s a county road,” said Town Manager Larry Schweinsburg. “I’m not sure how much money we [CCA] should be putting into this,” Schweinsburg said.

“It’s tax payer money and dedicated to our property, so I just wanted to make sure we made that clear,” Schweinsburg added.

Shickel said the yet to be formed rain garden committee should consider grant funding for the project.

Anyone interested in the joining the Ad Hoc committee or contributing to the efforts to establish a rain garden should contact Crofton Town Hall (410) 721-2301.
