Drivers Leave Crofton for Gas Deals

Prices at the gas pump have some Crofton commuters leaving the area to find a bargain. Crofton Patch asks drivers how they are saving on gas.

The holiday weekend gas prices hovered around $3.85 per gallon for regular along Rt. 3. Motor Trend reports these rates continued into Monday evening.

Many Crofton area drivers are running on fumes looking for a bargain at the pumps.

Crofton motorist J. Wyndal Gordon drives a Mercedes Benz on the weekends.

“I usually wait for the tank to get down to half a quarter,” Gordon said.  He said that car and his Infinity G35 both take premium gas.

Gordon spent $87 for 21.22 gallons of premium gas at the Royal Farms on Rt. 3.

“There’s no way to get around it, I’m just not going to save on gas with these prices,” said Gordon.

“I get just enough to get me to the Sam’s Club,” said Crofton’s Rose Ruzina. She purchased $3 of regular gas at the same Royal Farms.

“It costs me $47 to fill up my tank at the Sam’s in Glen Burnie,” Ruzina added.

Christa in Crofton said her family also drives out of town to snag a deal at Sam’s Club.

“We go to the Sam’s out near Annapolis Mall, it’s on the way to the boys’ school,” said Christa.  The Crofton mother of two said it takes $55 to fill up her family’s minivan at the wholesale club.

Monday her husband paid $60 to fill up the same tank at the Royal Farms gas station.

Although she has a Sam’s Club membership, Christa said people would probably pay to have access to the discounted gas and not the entire store.

“You’d think they’d just sell discounted gas cards to the public in these tough times,” Christa said.
