Soup & Scripture Lenten Study
Gather for a soup and bread meal, then explore what the cross means to you.

Soup & Scripture study: February 17, (skip the 24th), March 2, 9 and 16, 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Do you ever wonder about the crucifixion? What does it mean when Christians say, “Jesus died for your sins”? Who was saved by that act and how? This Lenten season, Rev. Elizabeth D. McLean will be exploring the meaning of the cross on in our annual “Soup and Scripture” series. Arrive at 6:00 pm to enjoy some delicious homemade soup, fresh bread, and good conversation. Then from 6:30-7:30pm, join Pastor Elizabeth in an exploration of what the cross has meant, and can mean to us today.
This class will explore classical understandings of Jesus’ work on the cross, (called “theories of atonement”), as well as contemporary understandings of what the cross can mean to believers today, drawn from essays and stories in Mark Baker’s Proclaiming the Scandal of the Cross.
