Rabid Raccoon Reported in Dundalk
Baltimore County health officials say that a raccoon in Dundalk had rabies.

DUNDALK, MD -- The Baltimore County Health Department reports that a raccoon has tested positive for rabies.
The raccoon was found on Rosebank Avenue in Dundalk on Monday, Dec. 28, according to the report.
A laboratory confirmed that the animal was rabid, health officials said Wednesday.

While there has not been any known contact with humans, authorities said that there was a “strong probability that this rabid raccoon had contact with other animals in this neighborhood.”
Officials characterized the rabid animal as a “serious public health threat” and said that the county’s animal services staff would be putting traps in the area where the raccoon was found, which is recommended by the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
