Woman Who Shot Son, Husband Denied Bail: Police

A 7-year-old boy and his father were hospitalized after double shooting over the weekend in Dundalk, Baltimore County police report.

DUNDALK, MD โ€“ Police said the woman suspected of shooting her husband and their 7-year-old son is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.

Erica Nicole Shifflett, 30, of the 7300 block of School Avenue, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and using a gun to commit a felony, court records show.

Police said Shifflett was trying to take her son from the residence after 7 p.m. on Saturday when she got into an argument with her 31-year-old husband. As he tried to put the boy inside, she pulled out a gun, shooting and injuring them both, police allege.

Both the father and son were taken to area hospitals, where they were expected to survive their injuries, according to police.

Family members held Shifflett down Sunday and restrained her until police arrived, officials said.
