Police Need Help Finding Driver in Fatal Accident

Anne Arundel County Police are asking the public to help find the driver of an SUV that hit and killed an elderly Glen Burnie woman.

An elderly woman using a walker to cross a busy road was hit and killed by a driver who fled the scene, according to Anne Arundel Police.

Investigators are asking the public to help find the vehicle and driver involved in the fatal accident that happened about 5:30 p.m. Dec. 11.

Linda Lea Suski, 67, of Clara Circle in Glen Burnie, was crossing Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard/Maryland 648 in Glen Burnie from the bus stop on the west side near Phyllis Drive, to the east side to return to her home. Police say that after crossing the southbound lanes, Suski was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound.

The force of the impact threw Suski into the center of the road, and broke her walker into a nearly a dozen pieces scattered over more than a 100-foot area. Attempts to revive Suski were unsuccessful; she was pronounced dead at the scene from extensive injuries, authorities say.

As a result of the accident, the left/driver’s side mirror broke off the hit-and-run vehicle, which investigators say belonged to a Ford Explorer or a Mercury Mountaineer likely made in 1996.

Investigators say that based on multiple witnesses and video obtained at the scene, the suspect vehicle is a four-door 1994 to 2000 model Ford Explorer or Mercury Mountaineer, and is white or a similarly light color.

Witnesses told police that after striking Suski, the SUV’s driver first slowed to a near stop in the middle of the road before driving over portions of the broken walker and speeding away northbound on Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard.
