Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks serves millions of residents and visitors annually through a wide variety of services and programs. Its primary focus is to provide comprehensive recreational programs for residents and safeguard valuable land through the maintenance and management of over 160 parks and natural areas. The department manages specialized recreational facilities, including two swim centers, two golf courses, three ice rinks, a baseball stadium, a softball complex, and programs tailored to diverse needs ranging from school-age childcare to adaptive recreation. It also cares for thousands of acres of land, encompassing community parks, greenways, archaeological sites, environmental and historical preserves, and large regional parks spanning several hundred acres. Parents of current South River High School (SRHS) students can get a little more information on the school's advanced college placement (AP) courses on Wednesday night. The informational session will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the school's auditorium and will discuss course selections for the 2013-2014 school year. According to the SRHS website, Wednesday's presentation will cover the following topics: <ul> <li>Course selection for students in grades 10-12</li> <li>Credit requirements and course sequencing</li> <li>Advanced Placement courses </li> </ul> The session is to help parents guide their children's' choices for classes next year that might better prepare them for college. For more information visit the <a href="http://southriverhigh.org/news-announcements/upperclass-course-ap-information-night-feb-13/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">SRHS website</a>.
