Fatal Fall on Main Street in Ellicott City Ruled Accidental: Police

Howard County man fell from scaffolding on Main Street, much of which has been closed since the July 30 flood, police reported.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD — Authorities said a man working in downtown Ellicott City fell to his death Friday.

John Peter Pacylowski Jr., 67, of Columbia, was found at 3:35 p.m. when it was reported that someone had fallen from scaffolding, according to the Howard County Police Department. Pacylowski had been working behind a building in the 8200 block of Main Street.

That section of Main Street has been closed to the public since July 30, when a flash flood swept through the historic downtown.

Preliminarily, police said the death has been ruled accidental.
