Bevins: CZMP Process Underway as Holidays Approach
A message from Sixth District Councilwoman Cathy Bevins.
The 2012 Comprehensive Zoning Map Process (CZMP) is in full swing.
The Filing Period officially closed at the end of November, with 42 issues raised in the Sixth District. Over the next several months, the Planning Staff will be analyzing each of the issues and will provide preliminary staff recommendations and a log of issues.
Planning Board public hearings will be held in March, and County Council public hearings will be held in June. The County Council final vote on each of the issues must occur before Sept. 16, 2012.

I look forward to working with the Planning Office, Planning Board, communities, property owners and interested residents throughout the course of the process. Updates and information is available at the Planning website.
It is hard to believe it is already December. Thanksgiving has come and gone, the rest of the holiday season is quickly approaching, and a New Year is right around the corner. One of my favorite things about this time of year is watching the beautiful decorations and lights go up in our neighborhoods on houses, trees, and even the boats on the waterfront—something that makes the east side so special.
No matter which holiday you and your family celebrate during this festive time of year, it is important to enjoy the season, to look ahead to the new year, and to look back on the past year and be thankful for all you have and to think about those who may need a bit of help to get through the season.

This season, kindly consider leaving an extra donation at your place of worship, giving to charity, giving a needy child a gift through th Toys for Tots program, a warm meal to a needy family, or simply a good deed like spending time with someone who could use the company.
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
Cathy Bevins,
Councilwoman, Sixth District
