Rockville will host its "Independence Day Celebration" fireworks display at the Mattie J.T. Stephanek Park on July 4 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Live music by Run for Cover will start at 7 p.m., followed by a greeting from city representatives at 8:30 p.m. The National Anthem will be played by the Victorian Lyric Opera Company at 8:55 p.m.
The 20-minute fireworks display kicks off at 9:15 p.m.
Residents are allowed to bring beach chairs or blankets, but they are not allowed to be placed within 100 feet of the stage.
Safety guidelines list that none of the following items are permitted:
- Tents, outside alcohol, wheeled recreational devices, noisemakers, glass containers, drones, laser pointers, weapons, illegal substances, explosives, and no throwing footballs, flying discs, baseball or other projectiles.
While service animals are allowed on the grounds, attendees are discouraged from bringing their pets.
Amenities include: food and beverage vendors, restrooms — including ADA-accessible units, an ADA viewing platform, first aid and bike parking.
Free parking will be available in lots along Shady Grove and Gaither roads and Piccard Drive.
"Attendees are encouraged to use Route 355, Gude Drive, and Shady Grove Road to access these parking lots. Once near the event site, follow event signage, not your GPS," reads the event announcement.
"Accessible parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis at 2012 Gaither Road for vehicles with a placard or plate. Access this lot via Shady Grove Road or Gaither Road. Display your placard upon arrival."
