It’s here, it’s finally here! That cool, crisp air early in the morning is a sure sign of the fall season in Frederick County – a season that we think is even more stunning when you live at Villages of Urbana. With leaves turning every shade of orange, the kids back in school for the year, and a whole new wardrobe to plan out, autumn is a great time to get a head start on home chores while appreciating the beauty of the changing seasons.

Much like spring-cleaning, fall-cleaning and home maintenance should be at the top of your list during this transitional time of year. According to AOL Real Estate, there are a few crucial tasks that should always be completed every fall season – doing so will keep your new Ryan Homes or NVHomes townhome looking its best for years to come!

1. Linens & Things: Changing all bed linens (aside from the ones you wash regularly) and flipping your mattress are both great things to practice a couple times a year. Machine-wash everything from your bed skirts to duvet covers to mattress pads.

2. Windows: Clean all windowpanes inside and out, and give any screens a good scrub (after taking them off, of course). Once the leaves start to fall, there will be even more dust in the air, which will build up on windows if they haven’t been cared for beforehand. For the same reasons, it’s also not a bad idea to vacuum and dust any window furnishings like curtains and blinds.

3. Doors: Double check the weather stripping on all doors leading outside and make sure their seal is still intact. With fall hurricane season upon us, and the temperatures quickly falling to their cooler averages, it will keep your home tidy while possibly saving on energy costs.

4. Ceiling Fixtures: Also be sure to clean your ceiling fans and light fixtures to remove any dust. This will prevent a big build up when spring-cleaning season rolls around!

5. Clear Any Leaves: Last but not least, the vibrant colors of fall look great on the trees, but after they fall, they can quickly turn into a slipping hazard – especially when mixed with rain. Be sure to sweep off your front step of any fallen leaves and you’ll be good to go!

And there you have it! A quick sweep through these tiny chores and you’ll be better equipped for the change in seasons. And, not to mention, it’ll make cleaning your home come spring a little less cumbersome!
