Gaithersburg Woman Buys One Scratch-Off And Wins $100K In Lottery
A Gaithersburg woman bought one $10 scratch-off ticket and walked away with a $100,000 top prize, according to state lottery officials.
GAITHERSBURG, MD — A 32-year-old woman played one $10 scratch-off and walked away with a $100,000 top prize.
The Gaithersburg resident usually plays games that are under $10, but decided to take a chance on a more expensive ticket. She purchased the winning ticket last week at Elbe's Beer and Wine in Silver Spring, Maryland lottery officials said in a release.
"When I saw the $100,000 prize under my matching number, I was shocked," she said. "I immediately went back in the store to have the clerk double-check it for me."

Once she got confirmation, the lucky player shared the news with her boyfriend and some family members. According to lottery officials, the Gaithersburg resident plans to buy a house with her newfound wealth.
She isn't the only one to cash in on this prize. Elbe's Beer and Wine at 2522 University Boulevard gets a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
