(Original post) GAITHERSBURG, MD — Get ready, Montgomery County. Because it's almost time to grab your sneakers and canine companion for the inaugural Lucky Dog 5K.
Hosted by the City of Gaithersburg, this event is set to take place on Sunday, March 15 at 8:30 a.m.

The starting line is at Fields Road Elementary School (1 School Drive). The course runs through scenic Malcolm King Park and finishes back at the school.
All dogs must be licensed and up to date on their vaccinations. And make sure to bring your pet's rabies vaccine certification. Click here for information on pet licenses and rabies clinics in Gaithersburg.

Dogs must be leashed. Retractable leashes are not recommended, but should be set at six feet if used, according to city officials. Disposable pet waste bags will be provided with race packet pick-up.
Through March 1, 5K participants can take advantage of the $33 early bird entry fee. Entry for those registering between March 1 and 14 is $25. Day-of-race registration is $40. Click here to sign up.
According to city officials, a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Dolores C. Swoyer Camp Scholarship fund, which provides financial support to Gaithersburg families so kids can go to summer camp.
