• Maryland's 3rd Beaver Attack: What We Know (patch.com) — Gaithersburg residents are being urged to avoid parts of Seneca Creek State Park after a 10-year-old girl was bitten by a beaver while swimming with a summer camp group on August 13. Officials have closed areas near Berryville Road and nearby parking lots as they search for the animal, stressing that beaver attacks are rare and there's no sign of a wider rabies outbreak linked to this case.
   

• Summary of Events: Chapman Avenue Fatal Collision (montgomerycountymd.gov) — Authorities based in Gaithersburg have released a brief account of a fatal pedestrian collision at Chapman Avenue and Twinbrook Parkway in Rockville on Monday night. An adult woman later died at the hospital, her child suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and the driver stayed on scene as the Collision Reconstruction Unit continues investigating.
