Motorcyclist Hospitalized After Crashing Into Fence: MCFRS (patch.com) — Gaithersburg residents may notice emergency activity Wednesday at the Extra Space Storage facility on West Diamond Avenue, where a dirt bike rider crashed into a wrought iron fence. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue officials say the motorcyclist was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, and no one else was hurt.
   

2. Six Auto Thefts, Two Robberies and Multiple Aggravated Assaults Included in August 19th Crime Summary (mocoshow.com) — Police reported several serious incidents in Gaithersburg's 6th District on August 19, including a shot fired inside an apartment on Streamside Drive and an armed robbery outside a restaurant on North Frederick Avenue. Two people were taken into custody after the robbery, and the broader county report also details auto thefts and assaults in nearby districts like Rockville, Silver Spring, and Germantown.
   

3. UMW Announces 2026 Washington and Alvey Scholars from Virginia and Maryland (umw.edu) — A Gaithersburg student, Eden Tardy, who graduated from Quince Orchard High School, has earned a prestigious Alvey Scholarship from the University of Mary Washington, covering full tuition, housing, and meals. Tardy joins four other standout students from Virginia and Maryland who were selected for their leadership, service, and academic excellence and will study at UMW in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
   

4. Gaithersburg Man Wins $50,000 (mocoshow.com) — A Gaithersburg auto mechanic turned his last $5 into a $50,000 Maryland Lottery Pick 5 win, using numbers that were personally meaningful to him. He bought the ticket at Goshen Beer & Wine in nearby Montgomery Village and plans to use the prize for property taxes and home improvements, while the store receives a $500 bonus.
   

5. Seahawks sign cornerback Trevon Diggs (thesportingbase.com) — Gaithersburg native Trevon Diggs has signed a one-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks, continuing his NFL career after stints with the Cowboys and Packers. The Pro Bowl cornerback, known for his standout 2021 season, joins Seattle as the team looks to rebuild its defense after several key departures.
