Winter is officially here! Students that live at Villages of Urbana are enjoying their winter break from school and their newly built homes are festively decorated for the season. Now that the kids are home, it’s a great opportunity to spend quality time with the family. Luckily, there are plenty of options right here in Frederick County!

Your older children will certainly be impressed by Adventure Park USA. This season, Adventure Park USA is hosting “drop in” days, where kids aged 5-13 can be dropped off for a school’s out adventure. Or, you can opt to spend the day exploring the park together. Indoor attractions like laser tag, a high ropes course, rock climbing wall and a bumper car arena will keep you and your kids busy for hours!

Have younger children that might appreciate something different? Head over to Pump It Up in Frederick for an “Open Jump” session. Massive inflatable bounce figures allow young ones to stay active and burn off that extra energy. Could you think of a better rainy day activity?

If you and your family are craving a more traditional winter outing, then you’ll love visiting Skate Frederick during one of their public skating sessions. Open skate is a great time to try your hand at ice-skating – the venue even offers lessons and team play to those who are interested. But if you’ve got a hankering for something a little more festive, head to Gaithersburg for the Winter Lights Festival. Drive through 3.5 miles of a beautiful light display at Seneca Creek State Park. This will be an unforgettable night the whole family will find joy in!

And finally, if your kids are much older and visiting home for the holidays, you might find a brewery or winery tour a perfect weekend outing. Frederick County is home to a Wine Trail and several breweries that are available for visits. With so many options, it might be hard to pick just one!

While there may be no promise of snowfall in our immediate forecast, we can’t help but get excited for all the winter fun in Urbana and Frederick, Maryland. Plus, our newly built townhomes by Ryan Homes and NVHomes look beautiful with a dusting of snow!
